Lynn Edwin True of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday morning, June 9, 2013, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 72 years.
Lynn Edwin True was born on August 30, 1940, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Herbert Ira and Ruby Ellen (Omealey) True. He grew up on a farm southwest of Tonkawa and attended Lamont Public Schools graduating in 1958. He married Wanda June Cheney of December 2, 1960, in Lamont and they settled near Wakita, Oklahoma, where he worked on a farm. After a year they moved to Blackwell and he began working as a stone mason for Hahn Brothers Memorials retiring after twenty-two years in 1984. He then began working as a machine operator for OICC in Blackwell and retired in 2002. His wife preceded him in death on July 12, 2011, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar.
He is survived by two daughters, Rose Brown and husband Ron of Blackwell and Lora DeTar and partner Doug Norton of Blackwell; a sister, Naomi True Pruitt of Tonkawa; a brother, Charlie True of Tonkawa; four grandchildren, Cameron Welch, C. J. Schrieber, Cole Brown and Amy Brown; and five great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a great grandson, Gage Welch.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Lynn Schuyler of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Tonkawa.
Casketbearers will be Ron Brown, Doug Norton, Cameron Welch, C. J. Schrieber, Cole Brown and Danny Horton.
