Margaret Lynn Lenker formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at her home in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 60 years.
Margaret Lynn Lenker was born on January 17, 1952, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Lyman Gilbert and Virginia (Ralston) Lenker. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduating from Blackwell High School in 1970. She furthered her education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, before transferring to Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, where she received a bachelors degree in nursing. Following her education she began working as a registered nurse in the neo-natal unit at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. In 1988 she moved to Oklahoma City and continued in neo-natal care for Mercy Health Center. In 1999 she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she married Don McKenzie and began working in the St. John's Hospital as a neo-natal nurse. She retired in November of 2010 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma, to be near her family and help care for her mother. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed her pet dogs and her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her brother, Gil Lenker and wife Lollie of Norman, Oklahoma; a nephew, Lyman Lenker of Norman, Oklahoma; and two nieces, Laura Murray and husband Kevin of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Katie Lenker of Norman, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Father Larok O. Martin of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers will be Joe Ranney, Craig Scribner, Kent Scribner, Mark Ralston, Paul Ralston and J. T. Hart.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
