Lottie Amelia Schone was born on January 9, 1928, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Brim) Meeker. She grew up in Pawnee attending Pawnee Public Schools, graduating from Pawnee High School in 1945. She married Cleo Charles Schone on December 23, 1945, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and they settled in Pawnee for 2 years, where she began teaching school at the Blue Valley rural school on her inlaws farm teaching all 8 grades. They then moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she began working at the Blackwell Zinc Company working there until its closing in 1974. She then went to work for the City of Blackwell in the ambulance department in billing, and in 1980 she became city clerk, serving as acting city manager several times during her tenure. She retired on December 23, 1992. On October 10, 2003, Cleo preceded her in death and she continued to make Blackwell her home. In 2005 she moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma to be with her daughter. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as a deacon. She was a member of the A.B.W.A. and was Woman of the Year for the A.B.W.A. She was also a member of the Association of City Clerks.
She was survived by her daughter, Daphene Turvey and husband John of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one son, Stan Schone of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty Jean of Colorado; and two grandchildren, Ashley Jones and husband James of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Bradley Turvey of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Mildred Elliott.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 24, 2007, at the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Kitchen Fund in Blackwell, Oklahoma, or the North Central Hospice in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
