Obituary

Lillian Christine Mayer of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, April 6, 2009, in the Ponca City Medical Center at the age of 87 years.

Lillian Christine Mayer was born on November 15, 1921, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to William Albert and Christine Catherine (Clausen) Mayer. She grew up in Blackwell attending Lost Creek District 37 School and Blackwell High School graduating in 1943. Following her education she worked at various jobs in Blackwell before working at Security Bank and Trust as a teller. After thirty-three years of service she retired in 1987 and continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League in Blackwell. She served as Sunday School treasurer for many years. She also held membership in the Blackwell Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and served as treasurer for the Wheatheart Nutrition Center. She enjoyed visiting with people and watching golf and football on television.

She is survived by a brother, Cecil Mayer and wife Virginia of Monett, Missouri; nieces, Glenda Hager and husband Joe of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Marjorie Zentner and husband Otto of Enid, Oklahoma, Darlene Mayer of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Beverly Childress and husband Dennis of Monett, Missouri, Kathy Patton of Dubuque, Iowa, Kayleen Horn and husband Gary of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Marsha Stewart and husband Kenneth of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Ramona Ryan and husband Ron of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and nephews, Glen Mayer and wife Barbara of Ponca City, Oklahoma, David Mayer and wife Catherine of Aurora, Colorado, Jim Mayer of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, John Hudson of California, Larry Mayer of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Roger Mayer and wife Kimberlye of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Rex Mayer of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Alvin and Lawrence Mayer.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with the Rev. James Dehne of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers will be Glen Mayer, Joe Hager, David Mayer, Dennis Childress, Roger Mayer, Rex Mayer, Kenneth Stewart, Gary Horn and Ron Ryan. Honorary casketbearers will be Otto Zentner, Larry Mayer and her co-workers from Security Bank and Trust.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, OK 74631.

The family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m.
