Lester Arthur Wedel, Sr., of Cheney, Kansas, passed away to be with Jesus, Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Goddard, Kansas at the age of 81.

Lester A. Wedel was born August 28, 1944, to Wanda and Danial Wedel. He attended Quay schools, before moving to Cushing, Oklahoma. He worked on the family dairy farm before meeting the love of his life, Emma "Chris" Apperson. They married November 4, 1962, and moved to Wichita, Kansas. Together, they had three children: Sherry, Les, and Becky, and they would live there until 1984 when they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma.

He made his living by driving for various truck lines. He loved going to church and will be missed terribly. On July 16, 2018, He married Linda Johnson and they made their home in Cheney, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Linda; his son, Les; daughters, Sherry and Becky; and step son, Nathan and his family. 

A Public Visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2026 from 12:00 – 7:00 PM at Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service has been scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in the Roberts Memorial Chapel at Roberts and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Lester Wedel, Jr., officiating. A private burial is to follow.
