Leontine Evanda (Hedges) Oldham, known as "Lee" or "Grandma" to her friends, died on June 12, 2011 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Omer G. Oldham, in September of 1979. Surviving family include one son, Mark Randall Oldham and wife Debbie of Dana Point, CA; one daughter, Loita D. Cottle and husband Jet of Spring, TX; grandchildren Kerri Supercynski and husband Dave of Aurora, CO and their children Ryan, Emily, and Jacob; Debra Mugrage and husband Sean of Port Townsend, WA and their children Opal and Sammy; Joshua Oldham and wife Jessica of Fanwood, NJ and their son William; Kristi Wells and husband Doug of Spring, TX; Justin Cottle of Spring, TX; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and a host of beloved friends and neighbors.
Leontine Hedges was born in Pawnee County, Oklahoma on December 11, 1919 to Van and Jesse Hedges, the youngest of six children. Growing up, she lived mostly in Kay County and attended several area schools, graduating from Braman HS in 1938. Eight months later she married Omer G. Oldham, an area farmer and eventually an employee of Cities Service at the Ponca City refinery. They were active in the Church of Christ in Blackwell and Ponca City, where Omer served as a deacon for many years. After his death, Leontine moved to Texas, Colorado, and back to Texas to live near her children. At various times she worshipped with congregations of the Church of Christ in Littleton, CO, Richland Hills, TX, Kleinwood and Bammel in the Houston area. At the time of her death she was living in Spring, TX.
Graveside services are scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 17th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Lanny Jobe of the Blackwell Church of Christ officiating.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Search Ministry in Edmond, Oklahoma, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
