Leona Virdean Glenny Milton formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at her home in Wellington, Kansas, at the age of 72 years.
Leona Virdean Glenny Milton was born on July 18, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Paul and Mary Ethel (Smith) Glenny. She grew up in Blackwell graduating from Blackwell High School in 1954. She furthered her education by attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where she was a member of a sorority. She married Robert Milton on July 31, 1955, in Blackwell and they settled on a farm southwest of Blackwell. She assisted her husband in owning and operating the Ryan Aviation Charter Service in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She later married Loren Meeks in 1973 in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Elk's Lodge and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, watching television and her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Waters and husband Chuck of Towanda, Kansas, and Sheryl Baumberger and husband Tom of Lucas, Ohio; a son, Mark Milton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; former in-laws, Vanda Milton Neely of Mayfield, Kansas, Ronnie Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Johnny Parker of Arkansas City, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Adam Brown.
A memorial graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18th in the Blackwell Cemetery. Burial of the cremains will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
