Obituary

Leah Lillian Dollarhide of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday morning, April 26, 2011, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years.

Leah Lillian Dollarhide was born on May 5, 1918, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Lee Erskin and Lillian Leah (Lake) Gaither. As a young girl she moved with her family to a farm near Braman, Oklahoma, before moving to Blackwell where she attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married Norman Wayne Dollarhide on March 2, 1940, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they settled in Shidler, Oklahoma, where she served her family as a homemaker. They later moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, before moving to Deer Creek, Oklahoma, in 1978. In 1980 they moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and in 2003 she returned to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed needlepoint and raising horses.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Dollarhide of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Marion I. Dollarhide; and a brother, Clyde E. Gaither.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 29th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

The grandchildren of Leah Dollarhide will serve as honorary casketbearers.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the March of Dimes in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
