On August 19, 2012, Lavonda Nell Nash, age 28, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father in the O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City with her family and close friends by her side. Throughout her illness she never lost faith that God was in control of her life.
Lavonda Nell Nash was born on January 30, 1984, and grew up in Blackwell graduating from Blackwell High School in 2002. She furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma College and graduated with an Associate of Science degree in 2004. She also attended Southern Nazarene University for a year before completing a program in phlebotomy at Pioneer Technology Center. While working as a phlebotomist she returned to Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Enid where she had plans of becoming a psychologist. Lavonda loved spending time with her family and looked forward to the frequent family gathering where they would act crazy, laugh and have a good time. She enjoyed being Aunt Bondie and spending time with nephews and nieces. She had many close friends that she spent time with and through her illness made many new friends that she loved, including a special nurse/friend Molly Delaney. Lavonda was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where for many years she sang on the praise team with her sisters.
She is survived by her parents, Glen and Anna Beard; her biological mother, Rose Nash; four sisters, Anna Nash, Kelly McLain and husband Nate, Christy Johnston and husband Matt, and Desiree Honeycutt; a brother, Larry Sedam; four nephews, Steven Johnston and wife Amanda, Mitchael McLain, Trent Johnston and Chandler Sedam; two nieces, Kleigh McLain and Allee Johnston; one great nephew, Aiden Johnston; grandparents, A.C. and Nellie Pratt; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emery and Lavonda "Bonnie" Pratt and Robert and Opal Beard; and two special cousins, Kenneth Beard Jr. and J. D. Beard Summers.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22nd in the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell with Rev. Bill Kalfas and Rev. Herb Berkley officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Church of the Nazarene in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Lavonda's nurses and doctors at O.U. Medical Center. Many of you not only cared for her, but became her friend as well and were a true blessing to all.
