Laura Nadine (Thompson) McDade of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, August 2, 2012, in the Ponca City Medical Center at the age of 87 years.
Laura was born on December 29, 1924, in Thomasville, North Carolina, to Robert Edmond and Annie Jane (Jones) Thompson. On Feburary 6, 1942, in High Point, NC, she married William Peter McDade of Morgantown, West Virginia. They lived in the Fort Bragg/Fayetteville, NC, area. Her husband of 52 years preceded her in death on September 22, 1994. In February of 2010 she moved to Ponca City to be near her daughter.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dirk Kramer of rural Kay County; a sister, Martha Hall of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, John Thompson of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren: Don, Deanna, Amanda, Joseph, and John; great grandchildren: Jackson, Colin, Ainsley, Ashlynn, and Kimberly; nephews/nieces: Rick, Mark, David, Christina, Frank Joseph, Michael, Carl, and Carlene; grand-nephews/nieces: Sarah, Rebecca, Shawn, Katherine, Samantha, Megan, and Joshua.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Tigrett of Fayetteville, NC; her parents; three brothers: Robert, Charles, and Frank; and two sisters: Mary and Edith.
Following cremation her cremains will be buried with her husband in the Raleigh National Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the American Cancer Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
