LaRuth Ann Sodowsky of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Sunday morning, August 16, 2009, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 89 years.
LaRuth Ann Sodowsky was born on August 9, 1920, in Calvin, Oklahoma, to Alva and Lucy (Galyen) Castleman. She grew up in Calvin graduating from Calvin High School in 1938. She married Clyde T. Sodowsky on November 9, 1946, in Winfield, Kansas, and following their marriage she served her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death in 2001 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. She also held membership in the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Gary Sodowsky of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three daughters, Peggy Nelson of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Sharron Clow of Oregon City, Oregon, and Claudia Sodowsky of Montgomery, Alabama; a sister, Mary Garrison of Ponca City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gloria Sodowsky; and a brother, James W. Welch.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
The family of LaRuth Sodowsky will serve as casketbearers.
