Larry Don Steel of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, December 24, 2016 in the Blackwell Regional Hospital, Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years.

Larry Don Steel was born on December 4, 1944, in Clay Center, Kansas, to James and Mary Katherine (Welch) Steel. He enjoyed listening to old country western music, reading western books and watching western movies. He liked watching college football, including the Kansas State Wildcats and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He loved spending time and talking with friends and family.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Helmlinger and husband Mark of Berryville, Arkansas, and Katherine Russell and husband Billy of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sons, James Steel and wife Liz of Olathe, Kansas, and Allen Steel and Starla of Cordell, Oklahoma; and 13 grandchildren, Seth Helmlinger, Kennon Hilmlinger, Adrian Helmlinger, Kyra Russell, Kelsey Russell, Austin Russell, Spencer Steel, Dakota Steel, Susan Brockleman, Billie Brockleman, Daphne Brockleman, Betsy Brockleman, and Sarah Brockleman; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
