Larry Glen Ewy was born on March 26, 1953, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Elmer Glen and Geraldine (Bush) Ewy. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools where he was active in baseball, basketball and track. He was also active as a Boy Scout leader and coached and umpired little league baseball for several years. He was employed by the Blackwell Public Schools in the Maintenance Department and also drove an activity bus. He later worked for Southwest Cupid until ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid Sooner fan. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell.
He is survived by his parents, Elmer and Geraldine Ewy of Blackwell; three daughters, Lisa Burns of Ponca City, Sheila Jacobs of Wichita, Kansas, and Molly Hedges and husband Doug of Blackwell; three sons, Larry Glen Ewy Jr. and wife Jennifer of Blackwell, Joseph Adam Ewy of Blackwell, and Mitchell James Ewy of Blackwell; a brother, Jeffrey Scott Ewy and wife Connie of Louisburg, Kansas; a sister, Cathy Peetoom and husband Robert of Blackwell; and nine grandchildren, Brendyn and Kamryn Burns of Ponca City, Dallas and Samantha Jacobs of Wichita, Kansas, Colten, Hannah and Emily Ewy of Blackwell, and Savannah and Kaden Hedges of Blackwell.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2008, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven Stoll of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robert Peetoom, Billy Ewy, Ryan Peetoom, Tyler Ewy, Travis Peetoom and Brady Ewy.
A memorial has been established for the Blackwell High School Wrestling Program in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
