Obituary

Larry Wayne Delaney of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Friday, December 7, 2012, in the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 64 years.

Larry Wayne Delaney was born on December 3, 1948, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was the son of George and Lorene (Chessher) Delaney. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education in 1967 he entered into the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. Following his discharge in 1971 he moved back to Blackwell for a short time before moving to Lamarque, Texas where he began working as a motorcycle mechanic. He married Crystal Thurmond on October 1, 2000, in Lamarque, Texas, and they made their home in Lamarque, Texas. In 2003 they moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma. On July 4, 2004, Crystal preceded him in death and he continued to make Ponca City his home. He married Sally Rush on July 7, 2007, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He enjoyed camping, gambling, playing cards, riding motorcycles and fixing things, and loved watching wrestling.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Delaney of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Nadya Monteneri of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Brittany Delaney of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one grandson, Tyler Testa of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two step daughters, Toni Etheridge of McLoud, Oklahoma, and Randi Gormley of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one step son, BJ Testa of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and seventeen step grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Raymond Lee Delaney.

Services are set for Friday, 10:30 a.m.,December 14, 2012, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cliff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery

Casketbearers will be Tyler Testa, Bryson Holeman, Christopher Cochran, Tony Bernabe, Bill Thiele, and John Campbell.

Honorary Casketbearer will be BJ Testa

A memorial has been established with the Disabled American Veterans Oklahoma Chapter in his memory c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
