Obituary

Kenneth Alvin Richardson formerly of Blackwell, died Thursday morning, February 19, 2009, in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years.

Kenneth Alvin Richardson was born on March 8, 1926, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Mayme (Peddicord) Richardson. He attended school in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School with the class of 1944. While in high school he was a state champion wrestler. Following his education he enlisted in the United States Navy. While in the service he was boxing champion in the Marshall Islands. After his military service he attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa. Kenneth was an engineer with Nickles Machine Corporation for 38 years. During that time he was a draftsman, engineer, plant superintendent and vice president. Kenneth moved to Cardinal Cove three years ago from the Kaw Lake and Ponca City area. He was married to Patricia Lou Randall on April 18, 1946, in Blackwell. Kenneth enjoyed making jewelry and working with sterling silver. He did all of his jewelry making from scratch, including polishing his own stones. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed time with them, especially camping and enjoying his favorite pass time, which was fishing.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Patty of the home; a daughter Randa Smaligo and husband Norman of Pryor, Oklahoma; a son, Bruce Richardson and with Martha of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Norman Smaligo, Jr. and Scott Smaligo; and a sister, Peggy Conaway and husband Lester of Blackwell, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kirk Allen Richardson; and a sister, Wanda Miller.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 23rd in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Bill Bush of Ketchum, Oklahoma, officiating.
