Kenneth LeValley of Braman, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, May 24, 2010, in the Ponca City Medical Center at the age of 89 years.
Kenneth LeValley was born on October 14, 1920, on the family farm east of Braman to John Harvey and Clella Vergie (Dowd) LeValley. He attended grade school at Lowe Center and graduated from Braman High School in 1940. He was baptized at an early age in the Braman Baptist Church later changing his membership in 1940 to the Braman Methodist Church. He married Darline R. George on May 8, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, and settled in Blackwell until he entered the United States Army in July of 1942. He served in the 928 Signal Corp in the South Pacific and stateside attaining the rank of Corporal. Following his discharge he returned to Kay County and worked for thirty-nine years for Mutual and Kan-Okla Telephone Company before retiring in 1986. He also engaged in a farming operation all his life. His wife preceded him on December 15, 1998, and he continued to make Braman his home. As a member of the Braman Methodist Church he served in many offices in the church and the board of trustees which he also served as chairman. He also served as commander of Post 259 Hennessey Cunningham Legion since 1969. Other memberships include lifetime member of the D.A.V. and Chikaskia Lodge #109 in Blackwell since 1952 where he was a fifty-seven year member.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Hutcheson and husband David of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; his son, Fred LeValley and wife Joniece of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Darrin Hutcheson of Phoenix, Arizona, Danny Hutcheson and wife Maria of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jared LeValley of Perry, Oklahoma, Raquel Ferguson and husband Rodney of Booneville, Arkansas, Darla Hutcheson of Springdale, Arkansas, and Natasha LeValley of Blackwell, Oklahoma; eight great grandchildren, Kyli, Blake, Vanessa, Daniel and Karla Hutcheson, Tyler and Cody Ferguson, and Austin LeValley; and his special friend, Bernadine McLain.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald LeValley; and a sister, Eva Mae Panach.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 28th in the Braman Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Reubell and Rev. C. M. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the United States Army of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Jared LeValley, Raquel Ferguson, Danny Hutcheson, Darrin Hutcheson, Harold LeValley and Stanley Reubell. Honorary casketbearers will be Darla Hutcheson, Dick Cantrell, Wayne Shoffner, Jerry Johnston, Leroy Ray, Dale DeWitt, Jim Panach, Lenny DeBoard, Rusty Partee, Bob LeValley, Greg Aldridge, Penny Anthony and Dr. Paul Davis.
