Obituary

Kathryn Alicia McClaflin of Braman, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, January 21, 2012, at her home in Braman at the age of 52 years.

Kathryn Alicia McClaflin was born on August 19, 1959, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Lincoln Deleno and Jovita Socorro (Garcia) Day. She attended Arkansas City Public Schools before moving with her family to Blackwell in 1968 and graduating from Blackwell High School in 1977. She furthered her education by attending Pioneer Area Vo-Tech in Ponca City and received her nurse's assistant certification. She then began working for the Blackwell Nursing Home and as a waitress for the Eagle's Nest Restaurant in Arkansas City. She married Jerry McClaflin on February 18, 1978, in Braman and they settled in Blackwell where she began working for the Southwest Cupid Corporation as a seamstress for five years. In 1984 they moved to Braman to make their home. In 1995 they moved to Afton, Oklahoma, where she worked for the American Red Cross as a first aid and CPR instructor. In 2000 they returned to Braman and she began working for the Family Dollar Store in Arkansas City before working as a sales clerk for the True Value Hardware Store in Blackwell. During this time she also attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and in 2009 completed her associate degree in business management and accounting. She was a member of the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Braman. She enjoyed crocheting and family.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry McClaflin of Braman; her mother, Jovita Snow and husband Bill of Blackwell; three daughters, Dedra Dwyer of Stephenville, Texas, Katrina Buechler and husband Jeff of Braman, and Alicia McClaflin of Braman; a son, Jeremy McClaflin and wife Shauna of Stephenville, Texas; a sister, Sonja Short and husband Brad of Blackwell; a brother, Doy Day of Blackwell; eight grandchildren, Kellsie, Adam, Cheyenne, Shawn, Matthew, Ryan, Avery and Jeffrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, H. P. and Minnie Mae Day and Porfirio and Conception Garcia.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Barry Briggs of Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Wes Snow, Bill Snow, Brad Short, Chris Bennett, John Tanner and Martin Evan McClaflin. Honorary casketbearers will be Bob Coffey, Tom McClaflin, Michael McClaflin and Jeff McClaflin.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
