Kathryn Irene Cassidy of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died late Sunday evening, August 23, 2009, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years.
Kathryn Irene Cassidy was born on November 13, 1925, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to August Frank and Letha (Morrison) Huhn. She grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1943. She then furthered her education by attending Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She married James Hugh Cassidy on November 12, 1944, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell. In 1945 they moved to Pittsburgh, Kansas, where her husband studied heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. In 1948 they returned to Blackwell and together owned and operated Cassidy Refrigeration Service for over forty years. Her husband preceded her in death in 2005 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed traveling including trips to Europe, Russia and Hawaii. She also enjoyed genealogy study.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Kay Simon of Blackwell, Oklahoma; her son, Dr. Danny J. Cassidy and wife Judy of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; her sister, Viola Tremble of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Scott James Simon PHD. of Tampa, Florida, Stacy Ratzlaff and husband Trevor of Kansas, Lisa Cassidy of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Wendy Cassidy of Dallas, Texas; and six great grandchildren, Jacie Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Tyler Brown of Kansas, Kelsey Brown of Billings, Montana, Chloe Johnson of Kansas, Essence Ratzlaff of Kansas, and Ketura Ratzlaff of Kansas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lawrence Huhn.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29th in the Braman Cemetery in Braman, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
