Kathleen Ann Newman, 70, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on August 26, 2026, at her lake house.

Kathleen Ann Newman was born on February 15, 1956, to Roy Coonrod and Mary Ellen (Pierce) Wood, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She graduated High School from Morison, Oklahoma, and would go on to get her Associates Degree in Archaeology from Western Wyoming College, Rock Springs, Wyoming.

She would marry Lewis Newman on November 17, 1993, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they would make their home in Blackwell. She would go on to work as a bookkeeper for Newman Pumping and Top Rentals.

She enjoyed singing karaoke, gardening, camping, watching birds and cats, and generally enjoyed being around nature. She was an avid dancer at Rocking Horse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Mike Coonrod; a nephew, Justin Coonrod; and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Newman of Blackwell; siblings: Leon Coonrod and wife Ginger of Morrison, Oklahoma; Penny Berg and husband Troy of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Patrisha Arnold and husband Kevin of Perry, Oklahoma; her children: Katrina Cottrell and husband David of Tampa, Florida; Cristy Denton and Rollin of Yukon, Oklahoma; Randy Newman and wife Ashley of Derby, Kansas; grandchildren: Sierra Cottrell, Daniel Cottrell, Tanner Denton, Taylor Denton, Kayne Denton, Emarie Newman, and Paisley Newman; nieces and nephews: Monty, Heath, Heather, Angie, Sarah, Maegan, Kalin, Karlie; and numerous extended family.

A Visitation will be held at Roberts and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Sam Simmons officiating.

Casketbearers include Randy Newman, Rollin Denton, David Cottrell, and Daniel Cottrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ponca City Humane Society.
