God called another angel home early Monday morning, August 11, 2008. Judy Ellen Gregson of Blackwell was born on July 12, 1949, in Medford, Oklahoma, to Marion "Buster" and Wilma (Pontius) Fairchild. At the age of three she moved with her family to Blackwell where she grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools. She married Harry Lee Gregson on July 13, 1972, in Wellington, Kansas. The joy of this union was their son, Larry Lee. In the marriage to Harry and Judy brought two other children into her heart, Mary Beth and Dennis. Judy worked for United Supermarket for thirty years where she had a smile for all she saw. She was currently serving as the assistant manager of the meat market. She also worked as the site manager for the Andros Village Apartments in Blackwell and was recently recognized as the site manager of the year at the R.R.H.O.A. annual convention by Green Development. Judy's greatest joy was her family, especially watching her grandchildren, nieces and nephews play. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals, woodworking, sewing and remodeling her home. Following diagnosis of a terminal illness two weeks ago, her last wish was to be at home surrounded by family, friends and her dog, Dolly.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Gregson of Blackwell; children, Larry Lee Gregson of Blackwell, Mary Beth Haley and husband F. W. of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Dennis Gregson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her mother, Janie Fairchild of Blackwell; a brother, Ernie Fairchild of Marlow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Bergman of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and Martha Radcliff and husband Dan of Ponca City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brittany, Michael, Lori, Kristy, Blaine, Chase, Marek and Sara Beth; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Lu Jean Miller.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 13th at the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Robert Foos of the Nardin Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Honorary Casketbearers will be her boys from the meat market, Donnie, Anthony, Dusty, Glenn, Mike and Luis and Green Development. Serving as Casketbearers will be Chase Gregson, Marek Gregson, Blaine Talbert, Michael Gregson, Michael Gray, Tim Rutledge and Miguel Mireles.
Memorials have been established with the Image Hospice of Blackwell or the American Cancer Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
The family will be gathering at the home at 611 N. 4th in Blackwell.
