Joyce Jeanette Shouse of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, in the Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years.
Joyce Jeanette Shouse was born on September 11, 1932, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to George and Evelyn (Varner) Rancier. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Schools. She married Robert J. Shouse on November 11, 1947, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they settled on a farm in Kay County. She received her General Education Degree in 1982 and then received her Licensed Practical Nursing certification in 1983. She worked as an LPN at Hillcrest Nursing Home for eighteen years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning fruits and vegetables, and baking. She entered these projects in the Kay County Free Fair where she won many ribbons. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and metal detecting with her husband. She loved farm life, country music, collecting bottles and frogs. She was a happy person who brought joy into peoples lives. Her faith was very important to her in her personal life.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Shouse of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one son, Robert L.
Shouse and wife Peggy of Blackwell; one daughter, Rebecca Day and husband Jerry of Owasso; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jeanette Duke; and one brother, David Osborn.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Father Larok O. Martin officiating. Burial
will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A Rosary service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's Research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
