Joy Louise Maddox formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Sunshine Manor Nursing Home in Republic, Missouri, at the age of 83 years.
Joy Louise Maddox was born on May 13, 1926, in Lehigh, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ovel Jackson and Elizabeth (Sandy) Johnson. She grew up in Mt. View, Oklahoma, In 1943 she moved to Vallejo, California, to help with the war effort. She married her high school sweetheart, Billie Joe "B.J." Maddox in San Francisco in January of 1944. They moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, in 1989, where she resided until the death of B. J. on November 29, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Billie Louise Brown of Centerton, Arkansas, and Janie Beth Skinner of Wellington, Kansas; one son, Garland Ovel Maddox of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Private family services were held on Monday, November 2, 2009, in the Blackwell Cemetery. Burial followed in the Blackwell Cemetery.
