John Wesley Hart of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, December 7, 2010, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years.
John Wesley Hart was born on December 26, 1926, in Neodasha, Kansas, to Aubrey Archer and Marie Sarah (Schultz) Hart. As an infant he moved with his family to Blackwell where he grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1944. Following his education he entered the United States Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to Blackwell and entered into business with his father at Hart Floral Company. He married Dorothy Leona Deffner on June 13, 1948, in Blackwell. His wife preceded him in death on September 19, 1971, and he continued to operate the floral shop until the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell. He also held membership in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Chikaskia Lodge #109 in Blackwell.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Hart of Blackwell, Oklahoma; three sons, J. T. Hart of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Greg Hart of Rogers, Arkansas, and Bill Hart of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a sister, Pat Gillespie of Enid, Oklahoma; and one grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Chance; and a brother, Aubrey Hart.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 10th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Kristen L. Brown of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
