Jo Anne Brockmann of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2013, in the Ponca City Medical Center at the age of 77 years.
Jo Anne Brockmann was born on October 9, 1935, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Thomas Brice and Marguerite Louise (Seeger) London. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated in 1953. She furthered her education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa where she received an associate degree. Following her education she began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company in the bookkeeping department. She married Lester Charles Brockmann on June 30, 1956, in the St. John's Lutheran Church east of Blackwell. She served her family as a homemaker and moved with her husband to Montana, North Dakota, Texas and Nebraska. She is a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed her volunteer work through the church. She also served as a 4-H leader for a number of years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, painting ceramics and her many pets.
She is survived by her husband, Lester of Ponca City; a daughter, Leslie Ann Grimes and husband Gary of Palestine, Texas; two sons, Gregory Brockmann and wife Mindy of Plano, Texas, and Thomas Brockmann and wife Sharon of Guymon, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Angela Ortega, Sean Brockmann, Cody Brockmann, Amber Brockmann, Charles Brockmann, Brice Brockmann, Carol Brockmann; and two great grandchildren, Sierra and Amelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a great grandchild, Braden Ortega.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on January 18th, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor James Dehne officiating. A cremation has occurred and an internment will occur at a later date.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for diabetes and heart research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
