Obituary

Jerald "Jerry" Max Dotter of Edmond, Oklahoma, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years.

Jerald "Jerry" Max Dotter was born on November 16, 1938, in Alva, Oklahoma. He was the son of Eber Herbert and Ethel Lillie (Redding) Dotter. He grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma, attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1957. Following his education he entered the United States Army serving from 1957 through 1966. During his service he was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Lewis, WA, and Fort Brag, NC. He was also stationed in Germany from 1958 till 1960, and served in Viet Nam from 1963 till 1964. On November 22, 1957 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, he married his high school sweetheart Patricia Warren. After his discharge they settled in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he began working for Xerox Corporation. In 1987 he was transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming, retiring in 1998. In 2003, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Northwest Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, former member of Edmond Toastmasters Club, and several square dancing clubs. He was an expert snow skier, renowned story teller, world traveler, assistant scout master, and was fanatic about fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dotter, of Edmond, Oklahoma; two sons, Keith Dotter and wife, Jerri of McLoud, Oklahoma; Brett Dotter and wife, LeAnn, of Matherville, Illinois; one daughter, Cindy Rody and husband, Brent of Spartanburg, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Fern Tripp, Onie Janzen, and Lois Enix; host of nieces and nephews, and Wild Bill Hickok's 13th cousin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Tuesday, March 9th in the Blackwell Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established at the Alzheimer's Association c/o of Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
