James Marvin Landers of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on August 5, 2023, at his home at the age of 73 years.
James Marvin Landers was born on October 14, 1949, in Earlham, Iowa, to Jack and Edith Mardena (Herman) Landers. He grew up in Iowa and attended schools there. He entered the United State Army and served in Vietnam. Upon his return to Iowa he began working for the Kayot Camper Factory. On September 30, 1972 he married Sheila Ann Woods in Wodburn, Iowa, and they settled there before making their home in Osceola, Iowa. He later worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and then as a pipefitter for Drake Construction. He worked as a pipefitter for seven years. In 2004, they moved to Blackwell to make their home. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and collecting model cars. He also loved to watch NASCAR and college football each weekend, but his greatest joy came in spending time and visiting with family.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Landers of Blackwell; a daughter, Shana Landers of Gardenia, California; a son, Corey Landers of Edmond; two sisters, Linda Carter of Guthrie and Sheila Kimball of Murray, Iowa; two brothers, Mike Landers of Afton, Iowa, and John Glazebrook of Osceola, Iowa; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rick Landers.
A Celebration of Life to honor Mr. Landers will be held on September 16, 2023, at The Broken Spoke in Osceola, Iowa, for 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
