James Charles Jones formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, August 11, 2008, in the Summit Living Center in Okeene, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.
James Charles Jones was born on September 15, 1926, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Edward Everett and Ruth (Griggs) Jones. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1946. He married Reola U. Lockhart on June 23, 1946, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where he delivered Ozarka water in the area. He later began working as a superintendent for Batterton Waterproofing of York, Nebraska, repairing grain elevators across the United States and Canada. He retired in 1988 and continued to make Blackwell their home until 1998 when they moved to Okeene to be near family. His wife preceded him in death on December 22, 2006. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Okeene. He enjoyed watching Okeene High School and Oklahoma University football.
He is survived by three children, Michael B. Jones of Okeene, Oklahoma, Dennis Jones of Decatur, Illinois, and Jimmye P. Miller of Enid, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Leroy; and a sister, Pauline.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Bennett Peters of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Okeene officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
