James Douglas Fair of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, September 15, 2014, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 82 years.
James Douglas Fair was born on November 2, 1931, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Dan and Lois C. (Srack) Fair. He grew up in Asheville attending Asheville Public Schools. Following his education he entered the United States Army serving stateside during the Korean Conflict. He married Marjorie Dunegan in 1954 in Wichita, Kansas, and shortly after their marriage they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he began working for Douglas Aircraft. In 1967 he owned and operated the Port-O-John Service in Tulsa along with his brother-in-law. In 1973 they moved to Hallett, Oklahoma, and after selling his portion of the business in 1977 he began Fair and Son Trucking Company. In 1982 he moved to Blackwell to make his home and he worked for Frontier Trucking. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed his pets, fishing, riding motorcycles and his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Keen of Ponca City; two sons, John Fair of Glenpool, Oklahoma, and Danny Fair of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
