Houston Lamar Hall of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, January 31, 2013, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 91 years.
Houston Lamar Hall was born on November 12, 1921, in Colleyville, Texas, to William H. and Alice Hall. He grew up in Colleyville attending CeeVee and Colleyville Rural School before graduating from Paducah High School. Following his education he farmed for a year before entering the United States Marine Corps serving during World War II. Following his discharge he moved to Childress, Texas, before moving to the Three Sands area south of Tonkawa. He married Charlotte A. Barrick on November 8, 1946, in Winfield, Kansas, and they settled in Tonkawa and he began working at the Acme Foundry in Blackwell. In 1952 the family moved to Blackwell to make their home and he continued working at the foundry. After thirty-seven years of service, he retired in December of 1983. Following retirement they enjoyed attending auctions in Oklahoma and Kansas. He also enjoyed watching baseball games and listening to country music, especially Josh Turner. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hall of Blackwell; a son, Nathan Hall of Ponca City; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randall Hall; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2nd in the Blackwell Cemetery with Nara Buonafede of Purcellville, Virginia, officiating. Military rites will be performed by the United States Marine Corps.
Honorary casketbearers will be Frank Miller, April Miller, Don Stafford and Mike Freeman.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Western Kay Chapter of the American Red Cross in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
