Helen Mae Dye of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, May 21, 2010, in the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.
Helen Mae Dye was born on March 3, 1929, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Earl William and Gertrude Deloma (Marr) Moore. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Schools and Braman Schools. She finished her education by attending Meltonvale School in Meltonvale, Kansas, graduating in 1947. She then moved to southern California and worked at various jobs in the Pasadena area. She married Carney Dye in 1960 in California and they settled there until 1971 when they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1974 they moved to Barnsdall, Oklahoma, where they served as pastors of the House of Fellowship. In 1980 they returned to Tulsa and pastored churches in Cushing, Oilton, Red Fork and Broken Arrow. After working as a secretary for the St. Dunstin's Adult Day Care she moved to Blackwell in 1996 to care for her mother. Following her mother's death she moved to Owasso, Oklahoma, in 2004.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol Dye Corr of Ringwood, Oklahoma, Nancy J. Dye of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Patricia K. Dye Rockwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Joyce A. Hunt of Templeton, California; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Darrel Zimmerman; and two brothers, Howard and Bill Moore.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 26th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Tepe of Christ's Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Serving as casketbearers will be Al Hunt, Larry Corr, Brandon Van Aken, Ronnie Sink, Wade Coble and Donnie Moore.
A memorial has been established with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for diabetes research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
