Obituary

Harriet Alice Determan was born on January 1, 1913, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Rev. Ray C. and Bonnie (Sitton) Millhollen. She grew up in Methodist Parsonages throughout Oklahoma. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1934. On October 1933 she married A. Norman Parker in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and they made Blackwell their home. In 1938 they moved to St. Elmo, Illinois, and then to Anding, Mississippi. Harriet then moved to Fargo, Oklahoma, to stay with her parents while Norman served the United States Navy during World War II. In 1946, Norman was discharged from the Navy and they moved back to Blackwell, where he was co-founder of Hartman-Parker Plumbing Company. They then moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1948. In 1952 she and the girls moved to Wichita, Kansas and she began working at Boeing International. She married Leonard Peterson in 1958 and they continued to make Wichita their home and in 1972 Leonard preceded her in death. On December 21, 1974, she married Daniel Determan and they continued to make Wichita their home until they retired and moved to Grove to take up their favorite hobbies, fishing and traveling. In the early 1990's they moved back to Blackwell, Oklahoma. On September 2001 they moved to the Veterans Home in Winfield, Kansas. On September 6, 2003 Daniel preceded her in death and she continued to make Winfield her home until December 18, 2007 when she moved to Jenks, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Blackwell serving as past president, and a volunteer for the Top of Oklahoma Historical Museum and the Wheatheart Nutrition Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Tremble and husband Wayne of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Billie Martin of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one step daughter, Sandra Zellner of Roff, Oklahoma; one step son Mark Determan of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle, Mike and Pearl Hartman; and one sister, Dorothy Green.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Adkisson Officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
