Obituary

Harold Dean Robinson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in the St. Francis Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 80 years.

Harold Dean Robinson was born on September 20, 1930, in Ulysses, Kansas, to C. Otis and Ruby C. (Fouts) Robinson. He grew up on a farm and attended school at Belpre-Trousdale where he played running back for the football team and ran track. He finished second in the state track meet in the 400 yard dash. He entered the United States Coast Guard on April 23, 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1954. Following his discharge, he returned to Kansas and married Eileen Couchman in Garfield, Kansas, in November of 1954. In July of 1961 he moved from Larned, Kansas, to Lyons, Kansas, and began working for the Northern Natural Gas Company. In 1970 he moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where he assumed the position of city utilities manager. In June of 1978 he began working for Kay Electric Cooperative where he worked in the warehouse as a meter loop operator. He retired in January of 1996. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed golf and his 1927 Chevy. He loved spending time with his family and especially attending his grandchildren's athletic events and dance recitals. Holiday time was also very special to him.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheri Johannsen of Lyons, Kansas, and Karen Little of Wichita, Kansas; a son, Galen Robinson and wife Carrie of Derby, Kansas; a step-daughter, Jerrie Stiles and husband Kenny of Nevada, Missouri; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Eileen Gifford.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 17th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Dr. Paul Wilke of Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby, Kansas, officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Derby, Kansas.

Casketbearers will be David Johannsen, Taylor Robinson, Spencer Robinson, Collin Peck, Colin Miller and Tim Rankin. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Derek Cadena, Brent Rodgers, Salena Little, Corinn Peck, Brittni Little and Kallie Little.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
