Harold Francis Hahn formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died May 22, 2013, in Sitges, Spain, at the age of 81 years.
Harold Francis Hahn was born in 1931, to Godfrey and Elizabeth Hahn. He grew up in Blackwell where he attended school. Following high school he furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma receiving a degree in theatre. Upon completion of his degree, he moved to Hollywood, California, to pursue an acting career. He later moved to New York City to continue his career. Theatre was his passion and he became friends with several Broadway actors. Margaret Hamilton, the wicked witch in "The Wizard of Oz, " was one of his closest friends. Upon ending his pursuit of acting, he and a partner bought a building in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan in 1962. The building contained several apartments and had retail frontage on the ground floor. The partners operated a successful import business focusing on furniture and nick-nacks, primarily from Spain. In failing health in 2013, Harold moved to Sitges, Spain, occupying an assisted living apartment to be near one of his dearest friends, Gabriel Benaym. Sitges is a beautiful, small village near Barcelona on the southern coast of Spain and Harold was very happy during the last few months of his life.
He is survived by a brother, Bill Hahn of Colorado; and two nieces, Mary Beth Brubeck and Beverly Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Earl Hahn.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 7th in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell with Father Larok Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
