George Jay White was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. Born in Ponca City on March 12, 1932 to George James and Edith Lucia (Boyles) White. He grew up on a farm in Ponca City until fifth grade. His family moved to Tonkawa where he met the love of his life, Quenetta Sue Williamson. Before graduating from Tonkawa High School in 1951, he was Captain of the football team, played basketball and ran track. After high school he served our country in the Army with an Air Force attachment as Corporal (Spec 4) in the Korean War. Upon his return to Tonkawa George and Quenetta began their 61 years of marriage on August 21, 1955. George was a graduate of Northern Oklahoma College and Oklahoma State University. He then pursued his love of teaching and became a professor. George always loved taking time to teach those around him and was blessed with an abundance of patience and an extraordinary since of humor.
George is survived by his wife and four children, Debbie, Charri, Annette and Scott. (who all think they were his favorite). George was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Jaylene, and his parents.
George passed in their home in Edmond on June 12, 2017.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Army.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 16th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
