Obituary

Frances Marian Finley of Blackwell, Oklahoma, went to be with her Heavenly Father early Friday morning, August 28, 2009, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 89 years.

Frances Marian Finley was born on October 13, 1919, in Braman, Oklahoma, to Mertin and Mabel (Nelson) McVay. She grew up in the Braman and Dilworth area attending rural school. She married Vern Finley, the love of her life, on August 10, 1936, in Medford, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell. Except for a brief time of residing in Perry, Oklahoma, they lived their married life in Blackwell. In 1976 she began working for Wal-Mart in the shoe department until her retirement in February of 1989. Her husband preceded her in death on July 9, 1962, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class where she served as class secretary. She also held membership in the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her son, Gary Finley and wife Connie of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Kay Jeffries and husband Chet of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and Kathie Seabridge and husband Dirk of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sisters, Velma Haegert of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Elba Cooney of Wellington, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Mitchell Dewey and wife Teri of Granite Shoals, Texas, Tracie McCall and husband Glen of Edmond, Oklahoma, Tisha Wertzberger and husband Chris of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ryan Finley of Jones, Oklahoma, Darrin Johns and wife Shelly of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Michelle Keylon and husband Joey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Heather Hancock and husband Ron of Bixby, Oklahoma, Sean Seabridge of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Scott Seabridge of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Laurey Brennan of Lawton, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Sherri Sharp of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Shanie Day; sixteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Corwin Finley of Fountain Valley, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Larry and Russell Finley; a grandson, Johnny Dewey; two brothers, Wimburn and Ethan McVay; and three sisters, Leda Davenport, Gwen Long and Alta Mae Stemm.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 31st in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Kristen L. Brown of the First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Robert Foos of Image Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Hazel Frost, Don and Pauline Merhoff, Jim and Edith Rath, Johnny and Ann Thornburg, Betty Robinson and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class. Serving as casketbeares will be her grandsons, Mitchell Dewey, Darrin Johns, Ryan Finley, Sean Seabridge, Scott Seabridge and Dalton Johns.
