Phyrne "Fern" Rosetta Rozell of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, January 29, 2011, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years.
Phryne "Fern" Rosetta Rozell was born on July 31, 1923, in Dilworth, Oklahoma, to Otis Elmer and Louise Mae (Ruede) McDaris. She grew up in Dilworth attending Dilworth School and graduating in 1941. She furthered her education by attending Ponca Beauty School before working for the Moreau Studio. She married Russell Rozell on December 1, 1946, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on August 21, 1997, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of Christ's Church in Blackwell, Walnut Valley Camping Group and Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing and the nutrition dances in her younger years with her husband, and senior citizen dances.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Rozell of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leo J. McDaris
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2011, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Chapel in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Frank Tepe of Christ's Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Max Wirtz, Ken Wilson and Von Ford
