Obituary

Evelyn Eulon Denton was born on September 15, 1929, in Enid, Oklahoma, to A. J. and Vera M. (Bennett) Conklin. She married Lester Franklin Denton on March 28, 1952, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She worked at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant in Blackwell before working at the Turvey Packing Company. She also worked for Hart Floral for a short time. She then began working as the cafeteria manager for the Deer Creek Public Schools and worked there for twenty years, retiring in 1990. She also worked for the Corp of Engineers as a gate attendant at Kaw Lake. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991 and she continued to make Nardin her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nardin. She enjoyed fishing, camping, knitting, traveling, and playing cards and other games. She also enjoyed meeting new people who visited the lake. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Cary Denton and fiancé Rose Harris of Blackwell; a sister, Dorothy Gayle of Fredricksburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Jason Williamson of Ponca City, Amy Atkins and husband Mike of Wichita, Kansas, Jeff Denton and wife Christen of Bakersfield, California, Mike Denton of Blackwell, and Jennifer Denton and friend Will Roundtree of Blackwell; and eight great grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Madelyn, Heath, Maeci, Ciara, Emmie and Jason. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Leslie Denton; a grandson, Ryan Williamson; a granddaughter, Andrea Denton; and a sister, Mildred Bennett.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church in Nardin, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Robert Foos officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin.

Casketbearers will be Scott Haskins, Shawn Haskins, Stacy Haskins, Steve Pennington, Ray Pennington and Scott Pennington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Nardin in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
