Eunice Nadine Mullen of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 79 years.
Eunice Nadine Mullen was born on April 25, 1931, in Kit Carson, Colorado, to Ervin Leo and Blanche Marie (Irwin) Kolb. She grew up in Kit Carson and attended Kit Carson Public Schools. Following her education she married Leon Ray Mullen on February 26, 1948, in Kit Carson and they continued to make Colorado their home. In 1953 they moved to Flager, Colorado, and she served her family as a homemaker. In 1956 they moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she worked for the Amarillo Globe News. In 1959 they moved to Decatur, Arkansas, before moving to Gravette, Arkansas. While there she worked for the Walnut Shelling Plant and the Peterson Poultry Processing Plant. They later moved to Dardanelle, Arkansas, before moving to Texas to make their home. In 1981 they moved to Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death on February 7, 2002, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She attended the House of Prayer in Blackwell. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, outdoor activities, playing cards, gospel music and playing the harmonica.
She is survived by three daughters, Diana Byler of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Melvina Helberg of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Rhenea Mullen of Ponca City, Oklahoma; four sons, Kenny Mullen of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Russell Mullen of Lexington, Oklahoma, Dallas Mullen of Gravette, Arkansas, and Marty Mullen of Rogers, Arkansas; two sisters, Yvonne Gumb of Eades, Colorado, and Kathrin Neilson of Palisades, Colorado; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna Moore and Irvina Wynn; and three grandchildren, Charlie Byler, Cimarron Mullen and Larry Mullen.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 19th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Jack of the House of Prayer in Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robby Byler, Travis Mullen, Chris Mullen, Michael Mullen, Bryan Vaughn and Nathaniel Helberg. Honorary casketbearers will be Bobby Lawrence, Greg Byler, Ryan Coffey, John Davis, Andy Crowson and Jimmy Lashley.
