Eulalia Jaunita Morgan formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Rose Manor Nursing Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, having just celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.
Eulalia Jaunita Morgan was born on September 7, 1912, in Ellendale, Oklahoma, in Woods County, to Roy and Rachel Plumlee. Her early years were spent in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, where she attended High School, cared for her younger siblings and worked on a local farm to help support her large family. It was here that she met Jess Morgan and they married on October 31, 1936, in Anthony, Kansas, and made their home in Blackwell. She was actively involved in the First Baptist Church and honored publicly in 1996 for more than 60 years of service in the church and Missionary Society. A talented woman, she stitched by hand a "cutwork" lace tablecloth and twelve napkins, as well as knitting afghans for many of her grandchildren. In 1999 they moved to Shawnee and after the death of her husband she moved to Quail Ridge Assisted Living Center in Oklahoma City. While there she was soon recognized as Resident of the Month because of her involvement in activities and the investment of herself in others. She was awarded a plaque and a ride in a Model-T with the city Mayor. In May of 2012 she moved to Rose Manor Nursing Home in Shawnee. Eulalia's outstanding feature was her love of God, the application of His Word, and her persistent concern for others. She was admired for her spunk, feistiness and quick humor, and she faced life's hardships with courage and a positive attitude.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Roark and husband Mack of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sons, Don Mills and wife Nancy of Springfield, Missouri, and Rick Morgan and wife Diane of Choctaw; one brother, Ayvon Plumlee of Warner Springs, California; two sisters, Pam Neitert of California and Sylvia Dawe of Blackwell; fourteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Walter Morgan; and two sisters, Violet Evinger, and Oletha Sapp.
