Erma Evelyn Robertson May of Blackwell, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Parkwood Healthcare Community, in Bedford, Texas, at the age of 93 years.

Erma Evelyn May was born on December 22, 1915, in Inman, Kansas, to Edwin and Martha (Nickles) Robertson. As a young girl she moved with her family to Nardin, Oklahoma, where she attended Nardin and Blackwell schools, and later attended college in Tonkawa. She then moved along with her family to Blackwell, Oklahoma upon her parents' retirement from farming. In February 1951, she married Russell Lee May in Blackwell, where they made their home. Erma worked in various jobs in bookkeeping and administrative capacities. Following her retirement they continued to make Blackwell their home until May of 2008 when they moved to Texas to be near family. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Lee May on March 4, 2009 and she continued to make Texas her home. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Erma was known as nurturer and a prayer warrior for others, who walked in the light of scripture.

She is survived by one daughter, Deanna Mitchell of Towanda, Kansas, one son, Gary May of Bedford, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters.

Casketbearers will be Dale Pontius, Rex Landis, Bob Lee, Howard Mitchell, Francis May, and David Haney.

Honorary casketbearers will be Jimmy Schatz, Gene Brown and Weldon Gressett.

Services are set for 1:30 pm Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Chester Ward officiating, burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
