Obituary

Erle Dean Sisk of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died late Tuesday evening, January 18, 2011, in the Northwest Specialty Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years.

Erle Dean Sisk was born on November 1, 1930, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to E. Ernie and Mae (Tucker) Sisk. As a young boy he moved with his family to Wichita, Kansas, where he grew up and graduated from Wichita North High School. While in school he served as president of the model airplane club. He married Adrah JoAnne "Jo" Criger on June 24, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas. He then entered the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in California before being deployed to Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Wichita where he worked in the maintenance department at the Wichita Union Stockyards. In the late 1960's he began working for the Yingling – Cessna Dealership as an A. and P. mechanic. In 1980 they moved to Rogers, Arkansas, where he served as chief aircraft mechanic for the Hudson Food Company until his retirement in 2000. In 2001 they moved to Blackwell to make their home. His wife preceded him in death in 2008 and he continued to living in Blackwell. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed building hot rod cars and various types of aircraft.

He is survived by his son, Rod Sisk and wife Nancy of Wichita, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Vee Gordon of Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry and Gene Sisk.

A memorial service is set for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 25th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Robert Montgomery of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
