Obituary

Edwin Dale Mang of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday morning, December 23, 2008, in the Bass Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years.

Edwin Dale Mang was born on August 27, 1924, in Fairfield, Montana, to Frank Jackson and Margaret Jane (Fuller) Mang. He grew up in Fairfield graduating from Fairfield Public Schools. Following his education he entered the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II. Following his discharge he began working as a crop duster in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. He married Regina Mary McKerren in April of 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they settled in Ransom, Kansas, where he worked in airframe and engine work and also served as a flight instructor. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and he continued in the aviation industry. In 1955 they moved to Joplin, Missouri, where he worked for Tri-State Aviation and St. Louis Flying Service. They later moved to Decatur, Illinois, and he continued working for the flying service. They then moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he began working in airport management before continuing in airport management in Galesburg, Illinois, and Humbolt, Tennessee. In 1978 they moved to Blackwell and he managed the Blackwell-Tonkawa Airport until his retirement in 2003. His wife preceded him in death on November 25, 2003, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He achieved success and respect through his integrity. He enjoyed his family and was a wonderful husband and father that will be dearly missed.

He is survived by a daughter, Margaret C. Bradford of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sons, Edwin Mang of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Frank Mang of High Ridge, Missouri; a sister, Joyce Cantrell of Spokane Valley, Washington; and one grandchild, Rob Bradford Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Quinton Mang.

Following cremation no services are scheduled. A memorial has been established with the Cub Scouts of America in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
