Obituary

Edward Ray "Ed" Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2013, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 68 years.

Ed Miller was born on January 12, 1945, in Blackwell to Carl Vincent and Margaret Pauline (Miner) Miller. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School. He married Pat Baldridge on May 14, 1971 in Blackwell and they just celebrated forty-two years of marriage. Ed worked as an assistant manager for Southwest Electric in Ponca City before working as the purchasing agent for the Electron Corporation. Upon closure of the Electron plant, he began working as an electrician for McDonald Electric in Ponca City and worked there until his retirement in 2007. Ed was very involved with his children's activities including coaching the various sports each participated in. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and deer hunting with his grandsons. Ed was an avid baseball and college football fan and loved his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Miller of Blackwell; a daughter, Kerry Vaverka and husband Shawn of El Reno, Oklahoma; a son, Kevin Miller and Jennifer Burns of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; a sister, Shirley Pehrson of Arvada, Colorado; a brother, Richard Miller of Blackwell; grandchildren, Jordan and Morgan Vaverka of El Reno, Carlee Miller of Tonkawa, Parker Miller of Ponca City, and Peyton, Kai and Brooklyn Day of Tonkawa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Miller.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 29th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Bookout officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers will be Jordan Vaverka, Derry Taylor, Chad Brown, Shawn Vaverka, Kelly Brown, Jeff Taylor and J. R. McDonald.

Honorary casketbearers will be Carlee Miller, Morgan Vaverka, Parker Miller, Don Taylor, Peyton Day, Kai Day, Brooklyn Day, and Elizabeth Smith.

A memorial has been established in his honor to the Ed Miller Grandchildren College Fund in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
