Edward Brian DeCosta, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died October 10, 2012, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 35.

Edward Brian DeCosta was born on July 28, 1977 in Seattle, Washington, to Raymond Manuel DeCosta and Joni Lauree Lantz. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1995. Following his education he entered the United States Navy on July 18, 1995, serving during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. On October 5, 2004, he was honorably discharged and returned to Blackwell where he began working for Lear Jet in Wichita, Kansas. He enjoyed watching football, hunting and loved spending time with his children.

He is survived by his mother, Joni L. Lantz of Blackwell; two daughters, Maria Lauree DeCosta and Melanie Kay DeCosta of Blackwell; a brother, David Lee DeCosta of Newkirk; a sister, Fay Lauree Vowel of Bartlesville; and four nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a niece, Rama Barnes.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 16th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Josh Heilig of Bethesda Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Paul Newton, Mike Jones, Mike Hurliman, Chris Deal, David DeCosta and Joe Cassady. Honorary casketbearers will be Kara Finn, Jeff Green, Kevin Beatson, Daniel Barnes, Roger Barnes and Tim Barnes.

The family will gather at the funeral home on Monday evening, October 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a time of visitation.

A memorial has been established in his honor to the Edward DeCosta Aeronautical Scholarship Fund in c/o of Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
