Obituary

Earlene Joy (Fitzgerald) Logan went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2026. She was 91.

Earlene was born April 13, 1935 to Laura Fredrick Fitzgerald and Earl Jesse Fitzgerald. She grew up in Numa, Oklahoma where she attended grade school at the Star District 51 School. The family would later move to Blackwell, Oklahoma where Earlene attended school from 7th grade until her junior year of high school. She then moved to Hollywood, California to pursue a dancing career. There she worked part-time for Paramount Studios in the Technicolor department. She graduated from Hollywood High School in 1953.

During a visit home, Earlene met the love of her life, Clarence Logan, Jr. They were married September 9, 1956. The newlyweds spent the first year of their marriage in Germany, as Clarence was stationed there in the army. After returning to Oklahoma, they established their home in Ponca City, where Earlene worked as a secretary at Conoco. In 1960, she and Clarence welcomed their son, Randal, and two years later, their daughter, Rori. While her children were young, Earlene was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker.

She would later attend college, studying at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Memphis State University, and finally earned her Elementary Education degree from Oklahoma State University. Earlene taught at Garfield Elementary and later at Lincoln Elementary where she taught fifth grade for the majority of her career. She retired from teaching in 1993. After retirement, she and Clarence enjoyed extensive traveling across the US and overseas. They enjoyed camping in their RV in which they saw much of the United States. Earlene was the perfect example of a mother and grandmother. She was a very loving and involved grandma to Morgan, Ian, Alex, and Hayley. Earlene was an active member of the Church of Christ, worshiping and serving in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Earlene was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents, Laura and Earl Fitzgerald; her step-father, Earl Rogers; her brother, Marvin Fitzgerald; her son, Randal Logan; and her daughter, Rori Hudsonpillar Roark.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Julie Logan of Ponca City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Morgan Lawrence-Hayes (Sheena Hayes) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandson, Ian Logan (Lindsey Logan) of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandson, Alex Hudsonpillar (Kylie Hudsonpillar) of Edmond, Oklahoma; and granddaughter, Hayley Acklin (Benjemin Acklin) of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Logan “LJ”, Eliza, Hadley, Marley, and Haven.

A public visitation will be held at Roberts and Son Funeral Home from 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Blackwell Church of Christ, with Lanny Jobe of the Stillwater Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Resthaven-Sunset Memorial Parks in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
