Earl Martin Shook of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, September 8, 2016, in Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 89 years.
Earl Martin Shook was born on March 29, 1927, in Springdale, Arkansas, to William and Victoria (Stevenson) Shook. Following his education he moved to Oklahoma where he entered the United States Army on July 19, 1945, serving during World War II. While in the military he married Treacel Mae House on December 3, 1945, in Winfield, Kansas. Following his discharge from the Army he transferred into the Oklahoma National Guard where he served for almost seven years. He served as an auto mechanic and auto parts salesman for most of his life. He later worked at the Billings Truck Stop until his retirement in 2011. His wife preceded him in death on December 4, 2011. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed his family, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by a daughter, Doris Newland and husband John of Blackwell; a son, Rodney Shook and wife Donna of Coweta, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford Shook; a daughter, Shirley Smithson; and an infant sister.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy Fitzgerald of the First Assembly of God Church in Hobart, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City with military honors presented by the United States Army.
Casketbearers will be Max Smith, Steve Newland, Joshua Fitzgerald, Brian Shook, Edward Smithson and David Corneil.
