Doyle Ray Scrimsher of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed to his heavenly home after an extended illness Saturday, July 11, 2009, at his residence in Blackwell at the age of 56 years.
Doyle was born in Briartown, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1952, to William Issac and Alice Jane (Haygood) Scrimsher. He attended school in Briartown and Porum, Oklahoma. He moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, in the early 1970's and began working at the Blackwell Co-Op where he continued to work for 38 years, retiring on March 10, 2008, due to illness. Doyle was a hard working man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. The last few years he enjoyed watching wildlife more than hunting. Doyle married Virginia Massey in the early 1970's and from this union they had one son, Neal Ray Scrimsher. In 1976, he married Patricia Ann Chisum and to this union was born a daughter, Stacy Deann Scrimsher, who was Doyle's pride and joy. On March 2, 2009, Doyle married Patricia Joan "Jody" (Brown) Pennington and they settled in Blackwell.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Jody Scrimsher of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Stacy Scrimsher and her fiancé Warren Combs of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one son, Neal Ray Scrimsher of Garber, Oklahoma; one step-son, Patrick Neal Pennington and wife Shelly of Perry, Oklahoma; one brother, David Scrimsher and wife Barbara of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; one sister, Joyce Wagner of Augusta, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Doyle also had an extended family including his mother-in-law, Shirley Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and five brothers-in-law, Clyde Bass and wife Sharon of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Don Romine and wife Joyce of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ron and Debbie Ramsey of Enid, Oklahoma, Hershel and Kristi Brown of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Jerry Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Johnnie Leonard; two sisters, Lois Cantrell, and Doris Mitchell; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Wagner.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the First Assembly of God Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Bill McKissick of the First Assembly of God Church and Rev. Robert Foos of The United Methodist Church in Nardin officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Jim Steuver, Mike Barton, Neal Scrimsher, Bob DeWitt, Hershel Brown, and Jerry Brown.
