Obituary

Doy Allen Day of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday morning, April 19, 2012, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 47 years.

Doy Allen Day was born on January 17, 1965, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Lincoln Deleno and Jovita Socorro (Garcia) Day. He grew up on a farm east of Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools through his sophomore year in high school. He then joined the Army National Guard and in 1983 moved to the Grand Lake area before moving to Hannibal, Missouri, in 1986. He was employed by Continental Cement and Hazard Company until 2002 when he moved to Tazewell, Tennessee, to make his home. While in Tennessee he worked at various jobs before returning to Blackwell in 2009. He loved to dance and followed the Star Dust band wherever they performed. He also enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and camping, as well as working on older cars.

He is survived by his mother, Jovita Day Snow and husband Bill of Blackwell; two daughters, Danielle Day of Japan and Mikala Day of Hannibal, Missouri; two sons, Issac and Isaiah Day of Hannibal, Missouri; a sister, Sonja Short and husband Brad of Blackwell; a brother-in-law, Jerry McClaflin of Braman; his girlfriend, Gina Stokes; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by father; a son, Lorell Day; a sister, Kathy McClaflin; grandparents, H. P. and Minnie Day and Profressio and Conception Garcia; and a good friend, Richard Sawyers.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 23rd in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Chaplain Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Burial will be in the Hannibal Cemetery in Hannibal, Missouri.

The Stardust Fan Club will serve as honorary casketbearers.

A Doy Day Memorial Fund has been established in his honor in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
