Doris Elaine Rose formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in the Claremore Nursing Home in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years.
Doris Elaine Rose was born on March 13, 1921, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Robert and Zoe (Dimple) Moss. She attended school in Fittstown, Oklahoma, graduating from McLish High School where she played on the basketball team. She married Harding Rose on March 27, 1939, in Fittstown and they moved to Blackwell in 1946 to make their home. While in Blackwell she worked for fourteen years at Wal-Mart. Her husband preceded her in death on June 1, 1999, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She later moved to Claremore to be near her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Home Demonstration Club. She enjoyed sewing and crafts and entered several items each year in the Kay County Free Fair winning many blue ribbons.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Mauck and husband Darrel of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and Judy Davis and husband Terry of Claremore, Oklahoma; a son, Derron Rose of Vinita, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Moss; a sister, Vera Russell; and a grandson, Chris Davis.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 17th in the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
