Doris Geraldine Miller of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Monday morning, September 8, 2008, in the Sterling House in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.

Doris Geraldine Miller was born on October 5, 1926, on the family farm near Glencoe, Oklahoma, to Robert Wesley and Lottie Eural (Webber) Stokes. She grew up in Glencoe graduating from Glencoe High School. She then furthered her education by attending Oklahoma A. & M. in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she majored in business. She married Lloyd Ray Miller on May 21, 1949, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Following college she began working for Conoco Oil Company and worked there for thirty seven years until her retirement in 1986. After retirement she enjoyed spending time tending to her garden and looking after the cows on the small farm they had north of Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death on January 2, 1993, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She also enjoyed spending week-ends with her son and his family, especially the granddaughter, Jessica, who was the light of her life. She loved to travel with the family to watch her granddaughter show cattle at various state and area livestock shows. She was also an avid Oklahoma State Cowboy fan and attended games whenever possible. She was an active member of the Elk's Lodge where she and Lloyd made many friends. She also held membership in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell.
